This time of year is a flurry of school supply lists and back to school shopping for most kids and families. Recently, the children we serve at TBCH were given the chance to go on a shopping spree for new clothes for school, as well as for the upcoming Back to School Style Show … all thanks to our friends at the University Oaks JCPenney in Round Rock!
JCPenney partnered with us to provide each child with $100 to spend on clothes and shoes. The kids arrived at the store on Tuesday morning and got to shop from around 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., before the store opened for the day. When we arrived in the morning, JCPenney employees were all waiting by the door, welcoming the kids with their warm smiles and joyful cheers. To kick things off, JCPenney provided breakfast for the kids before the big shopping spree began. After breakfast, each kid was paired with a personal sales associate who ran around the store with them as they picked out their favorite outfits to try on. The TBCH staff and house parents tagged along as well and the morning was an absolute blast for everyone!
It’s not very often that these children get to go on shopping sprees and it was so sweet to watch them feel comfortable and proud of what they had picked out for themselves. The friendly JCPenney staff made it such a special and personalized experience for each of our kids – it was a day that they will remember forever!
At check-out, the each child got to pick out their very own backpack for school as the sweet JCPenney staff handed them goodie boxes of all the essential school supplies.
We are so thankful for our friends at JCPenney for the way that they love and care for children and families in their community! They went above and beyond to create an amazing experience that the TBCH kids will be talking about for years to come!
