Welcome HOME Program
HISTORY OF WELCOME HOME
In 2018, several agencies came together to discuss how to address the needs of clients aging out of services, e.g., youth aging out of foster care, juvenile services, and community-based youth programs. Those youth often could not afford to live independently and are left to build on their life skills mostly without positive role models and trusted mentors. Those agencies, Georgetown Health Foundation, The Georgetown Project, Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Transformative Justice, and Williamson County Juvenile Services, came together in 2022 to create coordinated partnerships between organizations to transition young adults from crisis to stability and even thriving. That partnership birthed the Welcome HOME program. In the Spring of 2023, Texas Baptist Children’s Home and Georgetown Health Foundation made a move to create sustainability for those coordinated services for young adults and the Welcome HOME Drop-in Resource Center was created.
WELCOME HOME DROP-IN RESOURCE CENTER
Texas Baptist Children’s Home’s Welcome HOME Drop-in Resource Center is a welcoming trauma-informed structured environment for staff, community partners and volunteers to serve clients aged 18-24. The mission of the center is to align services and resources to the client’s needs and build on the client’s existing strengths. Clients will have access to a food pantry, hygiene pantry, washer/dryer if needed, printer/copier, and laptops to use onsite. Our programming is built upon SAMHSA’s 8 dimensions of wellness; Social, Emotional, Spiritual, Intellectual, Physical, Environmental, Financial and Occupational. Our staff and onsite partners will be building relationships with clients practicing Search Institute’s Developmental Relationship Framework. "Developmental relationships are the roots of thriving and resilience for young people, regardless of their background or circumstances. Through these relationships, young people discover who they are, cultivate abilities to shape their own lives, and learn how to engage with and contribute to the world around them." — Search Institute, 2020.
